Texas State Representative John Zerwas, M.D., To Retire From Texas House

KATY, TX – Texas State Representative John Zerwas, M.D., has announced his retirement from the Texas House, effective on September 30, 2019. Representative Zerwas served as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee in 2019. He has represented Texas House District 28 since 2007. In 2015, Representative Zerwas was nationally named ‘BIO Legislator of the Year’ by the Biotechnology Industry Organization.

Republican Party of Texas Chairman James Dickey commented:

“Representative Zerwas brought a keen understanding of medicine to the Texas House, which he used to help write legislation on healthcare. His service on several committees in the Texas House is a testament to his knowledge and understanding of the issues facing our great state. We are thankful for the work he and all of our Republican leaders did during the 86th Legislature to deliver property tax relief and school finance reform. We wish him the best in whatever he chooses to do moving forward.”
