Chair Duties & FAQs

Your responsibilities to voters, the party, and the Executive Committee.

Duties & Responsibilities

Precinct Chairs are the local leaders who organize neighborhoods, connect with voters, and help Republicans win elections across Brazos County. This is the most impactful volunteer role you can take on in local Republican politics.

As a precinct chair you are the direct link between the county party and the voters in your neighborhood. Your core activities include voter outreach, volunteer recruitment, and representing your precinct on the Executive Committee.

Your Role in the Party

The precinct chair position is both a civic role and a political one. You are elected by Republican primary voters in your precinct, and you serve as their representative in party governance. The county’s network of precinct chairs forms the Executive Committee — the governing body that makes key decisions for the Brazos County Republican Party.

What Success Looks Like

An effective precinct chair knows the Republicans in their precinct, maintains regular contact with active volunteers, turns out voters during primary and general elections, and participates in Executive Committee meetings throughout the year. Even a few hours a month can make a meaningful difference.
