Chairman Rinaldi and Vice-Chair Parks Endorse Mayra Flores in Special Election

Austin, TX, Release: Aril, 6, 2022 — For Immediate Release

Republican Party of Texas Chairman Matt Rinaldi and Vice-Chair Cat Parks both personally endorsed Mayra Flores for Congress in the June 14 Special Election for Texas Congressional District 34 today. Rep. Filemon Vela had previously held the seat but resigned to become a lobbyist.

Chairman Rinaldi said “As we increasingly see the Rio Grande Valley swing to Republicans, Mayra is the kind of bold conservative leader we need to take back Congress from the radical left. I am proud to endorse her in the special election and look forward to sending her to Congress.”

Vice-Chair Cat Parks said “The GOP saw incredible enthusiasm in South Texas during the primary election and we will continue to build on that momentum in this special election for TX-34. I am proud to offer my endorsement to Mayra Flores, who will help us flip South Texas red and ensure Texas remains a model state for conservative principles.”

Following the March 1st Primary Election, Republicans have seen massive gains in South Texas, with many counties more than doubling turnout compared to the last midterm election. Mayra Flores is a naturalized American citizen and Rio Grande Valley resident who believes in fortifying our legal immigration system, securing our borders, lowering the costs of healthcare, lowering taxes, promoting small businesses, and less government. She is a Pro-Life, Pro-Second Amendment, and Pro-Law Enforcement candidate. She is also a proud U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) wife, and a mother fighting for a better future for the children of South Texas.
