Austin, TX, Release: October 20, 2021 — For Immediate Release

As the Texas Legislature adjourned sine dine having completed its Constitutional duty of redistricting, many other items on the Governor’s agenda remain unfulfilled. The Republican Party of Texas joins with Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and supports Governor Abbott convening the legislature in a Fourth Special Session to fulfill the following outstanding items:

  1. Restore stiffer penalties for illegal voting that were lowered in SB1. This was previously added to the Third Special Session on September 30th.
  2. A full forensic audit of Texas elections to ensure illegal voting is rooted out and prosecuted.
  3. A ban on all vaccine mandates, as previously added to the call on Oct. 11.
  4. Banning gender modification, including cross sex hormone treatment and puberty blockers, as outlined in the Legislative Priorities of the Republican Party of Texas.

Matt Rinaldi, Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas said “We commend the Texas Legislature and Governor for delivering numerous significant and substantive conservative victories this year. But more needs to be done. We support Governor Abbott calling the legislature back to address these issues.”
