Representative Flores Accepting Nominations for America’s Military Service Academies

The office of Congressman Bill Flores is now accepting applications from high school seniors in the 17th District of Texas who are seeking Congressional nominations to attend our nation’s military and maritime service academies in the Fall of 2021.

To be considered for an appointment to a service academy, an applicant must meet the minimum admissions standards set by the respective service academy and they must receive a nomination from one of the following – an applicant’s United States Senator, their United States Representative, the Vice President of the United States, or the President of the United States.

For 2020, our office has modified the application process to address situations arising from COVID-19.  In particular, due to delayed schedules for SAT and ACT tests, we have extended the deadline for applicants to submit their standardized test scores to 5:00 pm Central Time on Tuesday, 15 December 2020.  The due date for all other requirements, including completed applications and all supporting materials, is 5:00 pm Central Time on Thursday, 01 October 2020.  Late submissions will not be accepted.  Interviews with our Academy Review Board will be held the morning of Saturday, 21 November 2020 in Waco.  These interviews will be held in person utilizing recommended CDC social distancing and safety protocols to protect the health of applicants and board members.

Nominating outstanding young individuals from the 17th Congressional District for appointment to our nation’s service academies is one of the most important and fulfilling responsibilities of my service as a Member of Congress, and we look forward to interviewing another outstanding class of applicants this Fall.
