Anyone who thinks the Republican Party lacks enthusiasm doesn’t live in Brazos County!

Approximately 250 grassroots conservative Republicans welcomed Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott and Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson on February 27 to the Republican Party of Brazos County’s 2013 Reagan Day Dinner. The enormous crowd enjoyed a refreshing talk by General Abbott and Commissioner Patterson created plenty of laughs as Master of Ceremonies.

The best part was the tremendous turnout from grassroots Republicans in Brazos County – at a time when the party of Barack Obama and government-run healthcare likes to claim that the GOP is running out of steam. General Abbott spoke about the importance of defending our Constitution and lit a fire under all in attendance that the battle to save our country is far from over. His steadfast commitment to conservative principles was evident in his eloquent monologue, delivered extemporaneously. General Abbott will surely continue to serve the people of Texas well.

Also featured during the dinner was a silent auction with various items from many generous sponsors that inspired many bids and raised a significant amount for the party. A fun quiz game about presidential facts engaged each table in a battle of historical knowledge. After three tables tied for the lead, rock, paper, scissors was skillfully used to determine the winner – the MEMdata sponsor table.

Sheriff Kirk gave a heartfelt tribute to Constable Brian Bachmann, who served Brazos County so bravely until his tragic death last August in the line of duty. The annual volunteer award was renamed to the Brian Bachmann Volunteer Service Award, to honor both Constable Bachmann as well as the grassroots Republicans who are recognized as having contributed greatly to our party. Donna Bachmann, Constable Bachmann’s widow, presented the first Brian Bachmann Volunteer Service Awards to Charlie Coble and Debbie Pipes, two dedicated Republicans who have invested their time and effort into promoting our Republican values.

Finally, to nearly everyone’s surprise, Judge Travis Bryan announced that our party has a new headquarters! Local businessman and philanthropist Don Adam has generously donated a new space for party headquarters on Briarcrest Drive in Bryan, replacing the outdated space the party has occupied for over 15 years. Stay tuned to this blog for further news about the new headquarters and the grand opening.

Without a doubt, the 2013 Reagan Day Dinner was our most successful ever – signaling that the Republican Party’s grassroots is not only still energized, but more prepared than ever to challenge Barack Obama’s liberal agenda and the Left’s assault on the Constitution.
