AUSTIN, TX – Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, and Speaker of the Texas House Dennis Bonnen announced that Texas would be deploying 1,000 National Guard troops to address the humanitarian crisis at our southern border. Chairman James Dickey commented:

“Republicans care about both the rule of law and the fate of those being left to suffer as pawns in the current broken asylum process. Thankfully the Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Speaker take the responsibility seriously to secure our border in a humanitarian manner in spite of the Democrat-led House of Representatives refusing to engage in meaningful immigration reform. We are proud of Texas’ Republican leaders for acting to preserve the safety of all Texans – and all Americans.”
