Dear Fellow Republican,
The month of February is a short one, but it certainly wasn’t a quiet one for the Republican Party of Texas. During February we rolled out our Red Alert Texas message which focuses on what we learned from the Election in 2018 and what we must do to win in 2020.
We started this month off with a great event in Dallas – the Black History Month Celebration which featured RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel. The event brought together Black Republicans from around the state who all discussed the most effective ways to engage African-American communities and spread our message of lower taxes, quality education, and continuing our booming economy. Thank you to Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel for attending and discussing what the RNC is doing to win in 2020 and thank you to RNC National Committeeman Dr. Robin Armstrong, Lieutenant Colonel Allen West, DCRP Chairwoman Missy Shorey, DCRP Vice Chair Karen Watson, State Republican Executive Committeeman JT Edwards, Pastor Stephen Broden, and everyone else who attended this fantastic event.

I was honored to attend numerous events and meetings in February like the Liberty County Republican Party Executive Committee, the Tarrant County Republican Party Reagan Day Dinner, Denton County Legislative Day, the National Rifle Association Legislative Day, the Texas Republican County Chairmen’s Association Legislative Day, and many more where I was able to deliver our Red Alert Texas message. During these, and many more, meetings, we talked about what we must do to win in 2020. We must execute our plan to add over a million Republican voters in Texas and turn out these and many more for the 2020 Election. Democrats have already singled out Texas as “ground zero” for their efforts, so Texas in on RED ALERT! We are confident that the exceptional Texas results caused by Republican policies will ensure the support and cooperation we need to ensure we not only successfully defend Texas in 2020 but also win back some of the seats flipped in 2018.

Since the 86th Legislative Session is in full swing, I have been able to discuss the RPT Platform, Legislative Priorities, 2018 Results and the 2018 Red Alert plan with dozens of our elected officials. During these meetings we consistently talk about the issues they are advancing, how the RPT can help them accomplish big legislative wins for the people of Texas, and how we can work together to win in 2020.
During the February Prayer Breakfast, Speaker of the Texas House Dennis Bonnen talked about the challenges they face in the Texas House this Legislative Session. I am happy to work to help produce as productive a Session as possible with our elected officials as they work toward property tax relief, school finance reform, protecting born and unborn children, and much more.
During the month of February, there was a Special Election in Texas House District 125. Republican Fred Rangel and one of four Democrats advanced to the runoff. Fred did that well in a heavily Democrat area because he showed that he shares the same values as the district. RPT assisted by reaching out to voters through multiple methods to ensure they voted for Republican leadership!
I was privileged to attend an event hosted by Helping a Hero and Perry Homes in San Antonio. Perry Homes built a beautiful home for Army veteran, CPL Matt Deatherage who served with honor to defend our rights. Thank you to all who have and continue to serve our nation in our armed forces.
That’s not all we’ve been up to – take a look below at what we’ve done in the news for the month of February.

While we have been active throughout the state, there are still so many more places to go and so many great Texas Republicans to see as we prepare for 2020. The most important message I can share is what can you do in 2020 to help us win – right now: 1. Help recruit great candidates, 2. Be active in supporting Republican candidates in city council and school board races, 3. Help register voters, and of course 4. Become a member of the Grassroots Club if you aren’t already.
