Update from Chairman Dickey, October 2019

Before we get to the monthly update, I’d like to take a moment to remember our dear friend, the late Clint Moore. Clint steadily built a legacy as a geologist, a Republican Party leader, a conservationist, and a genealogical expert. Clint celebrated his friends and exhibited his deep love for his family and his cherished wife, Diana, on a daily basis. We thank him for his countless contributions to the Republican Party and the spreading of our important message. No quote more accurately describes Clint than one of his very own, “I’m committed to bringing out the best in America, and ready to provide my brand of hard working, pro-active and positive leadership to everything I do.”

We will miss him deeply and we will remember all he brought to this institution, our Republican Party.

Dear Fellow Texas Republicans,

Fall is finally upon us. While the weather in Texas may be cooling down, the Republican Party of Texas is continuing to heat up!

From North to South, East to West, we’re engaging every part of Texas as we prepare for the battles ahead in 2020. Our Volunteer Engagement Project (VEP) is actively working to register voters throughout the state and employing a variety of new strategies to help us register tens of thousands of new Republican voters. If you’re ready to make a difference in the 2020 Election, please visit our website to find out how you can volunteer or text VEP to 72000, NOW. We need more volunteers, more voters, and more initiatives than ever before to ensure we keep Texas red in 2020!

I’ve been fortunate to travel throughout the state to share the Red Alert message about the need and our plan with numerous Republican organizations. I met with the Texas Federation of College Republicans, the Burnet County Republican Club, the Travis County Executive Committee, and many other organizations who all understood and took seriously the call to action to ensure victory in 2020. We’re seeing the Red Alert message spread from the Grassroots to the Grasstops – everyone recognizes just how much is at stake and why we must have exceptional candidates challenging Democrats in every seat possible.

In early October, we celebrated National Voter Registration Day. We got together block walks, phone banks, and events throughout the state to ensure Texas did our part to register voters. I was with the Hidalgo Young Republicans who put their passion for registering voters on full display!

While we have been making strides to register folks to vote in Texas, we still have a long way to go! If you’re not already registered to vote, text TXVOTE to 72000 now to register!

While I was in Hidalgo County, we held a judicial recruitment luncheon where extremely qualified individuals came together to discuss the need and opportunity presented in running for judicial seats in the Valley. The turnout was encouraging and I look forward to having a broader and stronger slate of potential candidates helping us challenge Democrats up and down the ballot all across our state.

The Texas Federation of Republican Women Convention was held in Galveston during October and wow did we see a great turnout! There were dozens of elected officials, State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) members, and County Chairs there as well as hundreds of volunteers.

A huge congratulations to TFRW President Karen Newton for such an incredible term which saw a strong surge in their membership throughout the state. I look forward to working with incoming President Glynnis Chester and the rest of the new slate of officers to help ensure their growth continues!

During October, I was fortunate to also visit with Young Republicans at their state convention. My sincere appreciation to the countless YRs who are dedicated to helping us engage young voters. Thank you all for what you do to continue to spread the message of the Texas Republican Party!

I was thrilled to join the Republican National Hispanic Assembly (RNHA) at their special Houston event and discuss the many ways we can and must work together to prepare for 2020. There were so many smiling faces who are excited and ready to spread the Republican message to all those who share our values.

President Donald Trump held a rally in Dallas which saw the American Airlines Center reach its 18,000 capacity and saw another 25,000 excited Republicans outside. We used this opportunity to sign up hundreds of new voters and new volunteers who are excited to vote right down the ballot in 2020!

We’re seeing exceptional excitement for the President every time he visits the Lone Star state. A big part of that is because his campaign has already invested heavily in Texas to ensure our 38 electoral votes go for a Republican in 2020. In fact, Texas was the first state in the nation to get a State Director from the Republican National Committee. Our Red Alert message is being heard loud and clear throughout the nation. We’re thankful for this level of engagement by national Republicans and the Trump Campaign. Needless to say, their efforts are paying off as evidenced by such a great turnout in Dallas!

I’m excited to announce that the Republican Party of Texas is partnering with Donald Trump, Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle for two amazing events (Houston and Dallas) on November 9th to celebrate the launch of Don, Jr.’s new book – Triggered!

Both Don and Kimberly will visit with guests at the events and you can join them! For a $40 RPT contribution, you will receive a copy of Don, Jr.’s new book and a ticket to attend the book signing event. There are VIP tickets available that will provide even more exclusive opportunities to visit with Don, Jr. and Kimberly.

I had the fortune of meeting with Senator Pete Flores while in San Antonio. We had a great conversation which spanned from the 86th Legislature and the upcoming election to the best breakfast taco sources in San Antonio. Throughout the conversation Senator Flores demonstrated his passion for his district and his constituents – which was clearly evident in the official and legislative results he’s provided for them.

During a second trip to San Antonio, I attended the San Antonio Republican Women’s Fall Spectacular and a pastor lunch organized by RPT Vice Chair Alma Jackson. Hispanic pastors from all around Texas and from Washington, D.C. were in attendance and we had a powerful conversation about the Party and the ways we can work together to make life better for all Texans – especially those in their pastoral care.

Between San Antonio trips, I flew to Little Rock, Arkansas for a Republican State Chairman working session. We discussed best practices and developed plans on how to continue to improve operations and ensure the results we need in 2020.
