Dear Fellow Texas Republican,
I hope you and your family are doing well during these trying times. The Republican Party of Texas (RPT) has been busy navigating some unprecedented challenges but has continued firing on all cylinders. With your help and the help of many Republican leaders across the state, we are still working diligently towards victory in November!
During May, we resumed the Senate District and County Conventions that had been postponed earlier this year. We encouraged our County Chairs and Temporary Convention Chairs to hold their local conventions in a space with three times the capacity of the expected attendance, to provide hand sanitizer, and to respect the personal space of those who wish to socially distance or wear masks. We are thrilled that so far our local conventions have been held safely and been well attended. If you are unsure of the date, time, or location of your County or Senate District Convention, please visit our website and check with your County Chair to confirm.
These Senate District and County Conventions will determine the delegates and alternate delegates for our State Convention which we fully intend to hold in-person, in Houston, from July 16th-18th. We have been in constant communication with the relevant staff from the City of Houston, the George R. Brown Convention Center, Houston First, and the Visitors Bureau. Our partnership with the local entities has been a solid one, and they have been working very closely with us in moving the convention date and preparing the Convention space to accommodate CDC Guidelines and that of local health officials. They continue to show they are doing all they can to see our Convention through with us.
All of this work has one objective in mind — delivering Texas’ electoral college votes for President Trump in November and victories for all our candidates from the White House to the courthouses all across Texas. We are focused on winning in November and not allowing any loss of momentum that risks victory. For more information on our State Convention and to register, visit our website.
In May, we concluded our Statewide Elected Official Tele-Town Hall series with Senator John Cornyn. Senator Cornyn gave us an update on the work he is doing in Washington, D.C. and throughout Texas to protect businesses from certain liabilities as they begin to reopen. His work will ensure businesses do not have to battle overzealous attacks as they struggle to reopen. You can listen to highlights from the Town Hall with Senator Cornyn by visiting our YouTube channel.
RPT has temporarily moved from in-person training and voter contact to phone banking and online training sessions, and we are so grateful to all of our volunteers who joined us for the virtual Days of Action, followed by phone banking. I attended several of these virtual Days of Actions via Zoom to share the “Red Alert” presentation, which is the RPT’s plan for victory in November.
We also held a State Convention Update Town Hall to update Texas Republicans on our convention planning. If you missed the Town Hall, visit our YouTube channel to listen.
The RPT continues to publish our weekly podcast, Let’s Talk Texas. If you’ve missed an episode, listen to them below on iTunes, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Listen below!
