Republicans Around Texas Show Leadership and Service to Their Communities During #RPTServes Volunteer Week

AUSTIN, TX – The Republican Party of Texas (RPT) encouraged Republicans to help their communities during #RPTServes Volunteer Week from Monday, April 27 to Sunday, May 3. Republicans stepped up with various efforts from donating to and volunteering for food banks to making and delivering hand sanitizer to first responders. We are grateful to see the Lone Star State coming together during the most trying times to overcome.

Republican Party of Texas Chairman James Dickey commented:

“We are incredibly proud of all of our Republican representatives and candidates who stepped up to serve their communities during #RPTServes Volunteer Week. Together, we will overcome any challenge facing our great state.”

These are just a few examples of the incredible efforts by Texas Republicans who are working to help their communities overcome the challenges presented by the Coronavirus pandemic:

  • RPT’s State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) members donated much-needed baby items to the Grace House—a pregnancy center in Weatherford, TX. This ministry strives to promote hope, life, and knowledge in the community through The Options Clinic, Grace House Pregnancy Center, and their Pure Truth in-school training program. Items collected at the May 2nd SREC meeting went to help mothers and babies in need in the Parker County area.
  • Senator John Cornyn kicked off the week with a video encouraging fellow Texans to get involved. He followed that up by having his leadership PAC make a $25,000 donation to Feeding Texas – a system of food banks that reaches families and individuals in each of Texas’ 254 counties.
  • State Representative Gary Gates launched his fourth effort to distribute free care packets of essential supplies to thousands of families across HD 28. To date, more than 5,000 families had already received these supplies, which included mask, gloves, hand sanitizer, disinfectant and toilet paper.
  • Denton County Republicans supported two local food banks, as well as Mission Moms, an organization feeding needy children. In nearby Tarrant County, GOP precinct chair Jesse Taylor worked with Gerald Kern of the Community Food Bank in Ft. Worth to distribute food to more than 500 area families daily.
  • Jason Vaughn and Texas Young Republicans answered the call to support the 5th Ward Pregnancy Center in Houston by supplying much-needed items from their wishlist to support mamas and babies in need.
  • Will Douglas, candidate for Texas House District 113, stepped up by making hand sanitizer and delivering it to home health organizations, the Seagoville Police Department, the Rowlett Fire Department, and the Rowlett Police Department
  • Jacey Jetton, candidate for House District 26 stepped up in a big way to volunteer with the Ismaili Jamatkhana Center food bank and showed the desperate need for food when they ran out of food after serving 800 people in under one hour

As Republican Party of Texas Chairman James Dickey said, “This week of service to our fellow Texans demonstrated the unity among Republicans and their willingness to put helping their fellow Texans in their time of need above all else.”
